I definitely agree with you the multi-colored Daleks, thugoh I must confess that when I first saw them I was like, hey, those look pretty. Now that you mention it thugoh, that is exactly the opposite of what you should think when you see a Dalek. They look more like modern art than universe-conquering villains.I def like the new theme music, lead-in, and logo thugoh, and I'm ok with him mixing the Weeping Angels with River Song if they have so many adventures together than it;s not surprising that there's going to be some overlap in creatures faced.Ultimately I share your concern to a degree, but I'm confident that it will stay good.

Well, making these tough decisions may be part of being a Time Lord, but it doesn't mean it's easy. I don't want to get too political, but any decision of this magnitude, whether it's the use of the atomic bomb or the decision to remove a dictator with military force, will create doubt in the mind of the decider. The ramifications are just too great to be 100% sure of oneself.

The modern interpretations of The Doctor may agonize over their decisions a bit more than usual, but I think that's part of making the character more approachable so he feels less like a demigod. There have been a few instances where he does not hesitate to express his wrath, such as in the resolution to The Family of Blood or when he dispatches the Spider Queen and her brood in the wake of his grief over Rose.

The simpler answer is that if The Doctor destroys all the Daleks, then the fans lose because hey... no more Daleks. /cry

I do think the pacifistic slant of Doctor Who is a bit foreign to most American audiences, especially those that grew up on more militaristic fare like G.I. Joe or Star Wars or the like. Star Trek's five-year mission is about as non-confrontational as we tend to get in American sci-fi. Surviving Red Shirts may beg to differ.

But, hey, even if these films are a bit lackluster, they're an integral part of the Daleks' rise to prominence.

I remember this one, it anenoyd me at the time.I've been through the pacifist-non-interventionist bit since, but now I'm with Sarah Jane again. The Doctor wimped out.Did the Dalek's ever claim to be doing their business (a lot of exterminationg mainly I guess) for the public good?I think not.Does that make it OK for the Dr to do use such a claim if he exterminates them?Again, probably not.But he's a Time Lord for gord's sake! Time Lords are supposed to be arrogant opinionated gits aren't they? Isn't that what it's all about?Like Tone and Dubya they're there to make these decisions. It's their job.And if they get it wrong we're all fecked. It wasn't like that in Dr Who, was it?
