Back when you could get surplus VHS tapes from video stores for a buck, I bought a used copy of Black Moon Rising. Much like Laura Mars, Carpenter only wrote the screenplay. Being a straight action thriller, I’m not so sure he’d be the right pick to direct it, but I was also disappointed in Harley Cokeliss’ work. It just felt flat, like Eastwood’s Firefox. In a perfect world, John Frankenheimer would’ve gotten ahold of it, but alas, such was not to be.
