You do need to learn something every day - and I'm taking Cushing's and Lee's shoe sizes for today! Thanks for that! Yes, House of the Long Shadows is a must see for the cast, Arnaz notwithstanding. The twist...well, the less said about that the better. I've not seen any other versions of ...Baldpate - but I have heard one - a radio adaptation. Not bad - same setup and payoff, but MUCH different in content. Cheers!

Tarkin lives on. My daughter makes me watch the animated program "Star Wars: The Clone Wars". Sometimes we get a kick out of it, and sometimes we just shout at the screen. When they brought on the character of young Tarkin and the model could be nobody but Peter Cushing, we looked at each other and screamed. I can't help but think that Mr. Cushing would have been pleased with his animated self.

I had no idea "Seven Keys to Baldpate" had such legs. We'll have to fix the ending and get a version for the 21st century.

Nice post! I can definitely say that I've learned something new today, with the facts about Cushing and Lee's respective shoe sizes.

Also enjoyed the mention about "Dr. Terror's House of Horrors." While not the best of the Amicus portmanteau films, it has a soft spot in my heart. I distinctly remember watching it as a kid in the 70s, and being glued to the TV screen.

"House of the Long Shadows" is the only one I've seen, and I distinctly recall feeling cheated as a teenage fan when I saw it on cable in the mid-80s. I'd like to revisit it now, as an adult, but have a feeling the twist will still annoy me. Not sure I'd ever watch any of the other six adaptations of "Baldpate", but I'd be interested to see the similarities. And thank YOU for visiting!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I did not know that House of the Long Shadows was based on Seven Keys to Baldpate. I have never seen any of the seven versions, but I keep running across references to them. I'm looking forward to tomorrow.
